This isn't exactly what you were asking, but have you considered the rubberband/tension wrench variety?

I once made one out of a small screwdriver and a mouse trap (I was feeling MacGyverish), at first it worked but the spring wore out very quickly and after a couple of uses the spring was so badly deformed it wouldn't spin the plug anymore.

I have the Dyno plug spinner, its really nice but I don't think it was worth the money (got it as a gift). I think the instructions have a parts breakdown and I'll try to get around to scanning it. I can't host the picture myself but when I get it scanned I'll PM you and then e-mail it to you.

Does anyone have the "flat" Rytan plug spinner? I was looking into replacing my A1 with something that I could actually fit in one of my pick cases. Any comments on the design etc?

Yea DrDave sent me thoes plans as well, I didn't realize it was the size of a PEN! Anyway I made one and it works pretty well, I modified the spinner to things I was able to buy and find. It ended up working out so that once twisted it "locks" , and pushing it into the lock releases it to spin though their are some bugs to work out yet.
