I Need Help Making A padlock Shim

Postby JB0311NY » 11 Feb 2008 13:58

I recently saw a video on Youtube of a guy using a shim from an aluminum can then he inserts it down into the lock while pulling up on it. It opens easily for him...
I have been Tin snipping and Chugging diet sierra mist for over 2 hours now with no success... I either make it too thin and it bend's or It just won't work... Is their a template out there, or a BETTER MATERIAL? Sure I can buy some online, but I would rather make one....
About the lock I am trying it on... It is a Master sphero...

If I am not using the right terms please correct me...

know there is a link but I have always used the pieces of sheet material from metal venetian blinds, they are often found dumped by the bins.

they are a nice thickness, strong and cut easily with a pair of sharp snips.

Happy Shimming
