Don't know what the Slovenia dude is on about...

I'm thinking of upgrading mine to a 30V system so it runs off my drill battery, rather than the 3V standard. Why would anyone downgrade the motor, though?

i thought weeker motor-less voltage...
put a reducer in between :P
eh do whatever you want...
ill modify my beast in the while and ill let u know the results... the plan is allsoo reducing frequency of strokes and increase power of eash stroke...

Since the pickgun works due to the speed of the stroke, not the power, you want a light but fast motor. The best way to do this is surely to use a good but lower voltage motor, and overdrive it with a higher voltage, which it will withstand for a short time. A 12V motor will take up to 36 volts for a short time, if then allowed to cool off. This is better than using a huge 36 volt motor which would probably damage the lock, and not run as fast as the overdriven 12V motor.

I've got a 7.2V hi-spec Tamiya racing motor upstairs, which will do well, since it's a 20,000 RPM jobbie. Should knock 7 shades a second out of anything!

A 380 would be better than a 540 though but your 540 would have some torque lol youve got to show me that one
