I have the lock-aid by majestic and i find it very good i don't use it that often as i prefer to use my picks but it has worked on the locks so far that i have used it on. Its second hand, i made my own blades for it out of sping steel drain cleaner and it's great :) :)

Ilco pck gun vs. riveted pick guns

Postby jeremy » 12 Mar 2006 4:13

I like Ilco pick guns, simply because they use screws instead of rivets (so you can easily disassemble and reassemble it yourself) and come with spare parts to replace the ones that occasionally break instead of making you ship it in to have it repaired under warranty. The warranty sounds great, but this is a perfectly good alternative to me, and it's simpler, less expensive, and more manly than wussing out and letting someone else fix it for me.

However, I have personally never broken one. I use simple hand picks much more often than pick guns these days.

I have used the Ilco and the lock aid, I definitly prefer the lock-aid. However when I'm on the job and opening for a customer I use a snap pick, I like the fact that I can, from strike to strike, adjust the strength of the impact making it much more versatile. I make my own snap picks the cost of the material is about $1.25 and 10 - 15 minuts time
