Useful Beginner Kits

I've been reading for awhile now and I'd like to spend anywhere from 5-30 dollars on a starter lockpick kit. Anyway you guys could post some links of your favorite places to order form -and which kit to go with. I'm from the central United States, so no euro-kits please. Thank you.

Oh I forgot to add, any suggestions on locks to begin on? Should I buy a lock from the hardware or?

I apologize. I'm not new to forums and in general it bugs me when new forum goers post repetitive posts. I realized I did just that -because I got giddy. I failed to browse the stickies before posting, hehe. One of those stupid slips. Sorry to waste forum space guys.

I'm just jesting. When you first start up a hobby like this it's easy to get excited and miss seeing the search issue. Welcome aboard.

Buying from a hardware store is a good place to get beginner locks. They are generally of fairly poor quality. That means there will be lower tolerences butween the pins and the chambers, which makes the locks easier to pick. They are also pretty cheap(cost wise). Start with a kwikset if you can find one, or a cheap copy of a weiser. :lol:

I was bored the other day and tried to make my own from a diagram I had. In the end they came out kinda cool :lol:

Try a Master padlock. Generally any $5 master padlock will do...if it looks common, it's probably cheap and easy to pick, notice I said probably. Don't go for a re-keyable padlock yet though, they're generally many times harder to pick. If you want a deadbolt, get a Kwikset, I saw them at a store the other day for about 10 bucks, so they won't break the bank or anything.
