New Picking

Postby triggerhappycarebear » 2 Aug 2007 0:19

Hi guys,
This is my first post! I've recently taken up lock-picking as a hobby, and i was wondering, which tools would you recommend for picking locks such as those on a door, or those on combination masterlocks. I don't have very much money to spend on them, so is there a way that i could get a good set of picks or shims for under 30 dollars?
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

you can buy hacksaw blades and make your own,the shims you can make yourself out off a pop can.

Was that an insult? I did not give directions on how to make them.

Sorry no it wasn't an insult. it was more of a general thing. theres about 4 new threads today alone asking the same basic questions. and i checked the forums when i was in a bit of an odd mood. this one just caught me because of the locks he was specifically interested in and the lack of bothering to search.

...sounds sketchy ;)

If my opinion counts, I got the picture that the OP is going to open doors (not his) and as I know that the schools in USA use extensively the Master combination padlocks with the override key...well, what can you expect to understand from this kind of thing?

For the OP: I refer you to the sites search function, it holds awesome powers 8)

Not meaning anything by it

Postby triggerhappycarebear » 3 Aug 2007 3:54

Hey people, when i was asking about those types of locks, i wanted to know about them because those are the ones that i HAVE. its just a hobby that i took up, and i wanted to see what i could do with it. I really resent the fact that you think i am a thief because of a simple request for advice. this entire website is full of people wanting information about lockpicking. are you saying that all of them are criminals? don''t just assume the worst of people like that

potentially, yes. of course. i don't know you from Adam. Please don't take offense to it but we have loads of these every week from new people and we find out that its someone up to no good all to often. its just the nature of the beast. Search the forums everyone gets it with there first few posts especially if it asks about locks that are common on lockers.

Everyone is met with the same caution and I think you just caught me in a bad mood and worded it in a way that made me question it more than often.

So I tell you what. lets start over. Post a picture of the locks you have with make and model and we will see what we can recommend. This is how we usually handle these things. Its usually requested that you write lp101 on a piece of paper in the image so we know its not just an image from google image search.

Again, its nothing personal its just the best way to make sure we don't hand out any information to the wrong people.

All the best

John

No you should not trust random websites. That is the reason for searching: First you search for sites that sell lockpicks and after that you search from example these forums to find out if those places are good or bad. There is many topics/posts about different shops around here, and I think they will cover many issues about many stores.

If you want fast and reliable shop, try this forums sponsor, lockpickshop.com. The link is at the upper right of all pages :)

As i said we both await the OP to come back and prove us wrong, that didnt mean come back with lip,

No-one attcked you nor did they accuse you, a suggestion was made that on the face of it things may not be above board as its a common question to ask how to get into school locker padlocks,
