parapluie, umbrella is the name used in france for various types of picks for what I believe they call pompe locks. These are various locks that have pins in a circle. Google 'serrures de haut securite'" and click on the Chez montmartre link, there are lots of photos of keys and clicking on some of them produces expanded drawings.
I don't think that part is actually from and umbrella. and I couldn't be sure how many pins it addresses. perhaps 7
I found a thumb turn bolt that mortices completely into a door for locking from the inside only, and shoots a round bolt into the strike, this thing is just a turnbolt and has no lock, no part of it appears on the outside of the door so you wouldn't know its there,
the interesting thing about it, was that it shoots out the bolt by a rack and pinion sort of arrangement, with the rack cut into one end of the round bolt, and the pinion gear cut on the shaft of the the thumbturn, this was 6 gear teeth in all, and it was going to be my pick for the nix pix lock until I buried it in storage and forgot about opening that nix pix lock. All I was missing were the sliders which would have been made as in the one shown on the video, by using round stock and cutting it flat where it enters the keyway.
So if you see little morticed thumbturn bolts, take a second look, the thumb turn may be most of what you would need for various pompe locks.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
