Pick gun/Snapper VS. Security Pins

Postby WolfSpring » 9 Sep 2009 4:57

I searched Pick guns, and I searched Snapper and did a search within this search for security and found nothing at all.

I was playing around and made a snapper out of a winshield wiper insert and it worked great on locks I can rake in 3 seconds, now take me 5-10 seconds with the snapper. Do they or pick guns work vs security pins? Because I can't seem to get it to even false set a security pin lock, I might be doing it wrong, thats for sure, but before I spend 20 bucks on a pick gun, which I will be buying more to try out and have on hand just in case, I'd like to know if they work against security pins? I mean SPP is the only thing I'm doing right now. I'm not a fan of bumping because I messed up a lock already with that, but I want to be well rounded with all tools of the trade and knowledge. Thank you in advance, and again I did try and do a search but I found nothing supporting security pins VS snapper/pick guns.

yes the pick gun will work on security pins. security pins are all about light light tension, and idk how you are using the pick gun/snapper but the tip that contacts the pins should just parely touch em. if you have to angle your gun so it hits em at a 45 degree angle it will still work as long as you hit em all at the same time andhave good enough tension. and you cant just click 5 or 6 times and check your tension. it takes several clicks(yes theoretically you can do it with one click but the odds for a human to do it this way are astronomical). try varrying your tension while you consistantly click over and over for 20 to 30 seconds... if you havnt got it by then than maby you over set somthing so start over.

It is harder to do with locks in your hand because your hand kinda jumps with the pick so i suggest locking your padlocks onto somthing so they have some stability.

this tool takes alot of practice and is still only a gamble. but it is an adventure to learn so keep at it :)

I got a false set after about a minute of off and on tension, and a blister lol. Think I need to revise my design. Maybe my striker is to long. My rakeable lock opens first click as well as any cabinet in the area. Just these American security pin locks don't like it at all.

SWEET I used my snapper to pick a Sargent door lock to an old office that they don't have the key for and they use for storage now!!! Took a while but once I got the hang of it it takes 20 seconds or less. Though my thumb has a massive spot on it that is a little sore like a blister under the skin that i cannot see or get to. Cool little toy in case of an emergency or for the "novilty"
