Epg HPC / TL / DINO ?

Postby raph1912 » 10 Jul 2015 6:24

Hello guys,

I am locking for an EPG cheaper than 200 €.
I have found some reviews on the net but they looked like more than advertisments than objectives reviews.

I have bought this EPG http://www.walkerlocksmiths.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1056.
The handle and size were perfects, this EPG worked perfectly on the most of my locks but it was just a copy of the mhp2...
It started fail after only 2 days. The motor worked aleatory like a bad electric contact before stop definitvely his job and it was impossible to repair it.

You can see it here if you are interested :
https://youtu.be/jhd6MzUn-fM

So i am looking for an effective product with a good quality build.
What do you think about :
- HPC Doodlebug Upgrade http://www.locksmithstore.co.uk/shop/doodlebug-the-legendary-upgrade-to-the-original-hpc-epg/

- Trade Lock Gen3 http://tradelocks.co.uk/domestic-locksmith-tools/cylinder-tools/tradelocks-generation-3-electric-pick-gun-set.html

- Dino http://www.walkerlocksmiths.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=456

If i am right the Dino doesn't have an adjustment screw, the TL Gen3 don't have a remove battery, and the doodlebug upgrade is just a boost of the motor by a stronger battery.

Which one i should buy ?

Thx

Don't give it up! Did you realize which contact is it?
In your video it looks like the battery cap goes in/out very easily what indicates that the battery contact pressure is too low. What about pretensioning it a little?

At begining i thought the problem was the cap.
But not. The problem is between the motor and the electric components.
When the gun failed i felt hot temp from the gun.

Can you disassemble the thing and test where the voltage gets being lost? The cheapest pocket multimeter will show it.

Impossible to pull outside the electronic card. I have tried everything to access at the part between the card and the motor.

That's why i need reviews about users of the TL HPC and DINO epg to choose my new one.

You might want to use the GEEK app which works with WISH website to look for an inexpensive EPG. I bought several lock related tools on there. Some not so good like the GOSO picks but I use a few of them. They do have pick guns cheaper than anywhere else I have seen. Everything comes from China so the shipping is cheap but takes at least 10 days to receive your items. I havent searched for the electric pick guns but I am sure they have them. If you are look for something less expensive, I would check it out.

I don't know if it helps you to choose among those three tools, just few remarks.

Dino looks like having an adjustment nut.
Contacts at removable battery are often a source of problems.
Stronger battery is a reasonable upgrade.

Ok thanks.

The geek app only was klom epg.

For the stronger battery of the doodle upgrade, i expected that the motor is not changed.
If it's boosted by a stronger voltage how long it will works ?

Well the dino could be nice so.
