How to Make a Snapper Pick by Sams Choice

30 minutes to make the snapper, and it works... Does the strenghtening solve the problem of the spring eventually wearing out?

it does lose it kick after a while. I still have the original one i made in this guide and it still kicks ok. It has lost a bit of strength but the locks that you will be using it on shouldnt need too much, aka m1 keyways, and kwickset ones too. sigh, if you want one that keeps its kick for a bit longer use windshield wiper blades, or street sweeper bristles. Those will lose its kick too, but not as soon as a hanger...

Sam, when i made my snapper based on yours and pyro's snapper, i did not finish the box that holds the striking arm. That way, i could unhook the striking arm from the box when it's not in use, hopefully prolonging the life.
I've never had to pull the snapper to the limits, or ever had the snapper unwind on me while using it.
I'm wondering why you and pyro finish the box trapping the striking arm.

I might be mistaken but i think pyros can come out of it and be disengaged while not in use. I sealed mine up because i just like it better that way, i guess when it comes to looks maybe? Its not something that i would use as a serious toy, its kinda like something fun to play with. If i didnt have my picks with me, but had a coat hanger, i would make a pick out of it and use that. I guess in the instance when i couldnt pick it, i would make that snapper pick, i guess if the situation arouse. haha. But about the closing in the arm and locking it there for ever, i think it all comes down to one thing....."Potato Potato"....

I made this one, it is made from a wiper but it´s the same design, thanks to sams!

but here in Brazil, the pinstack is downward, making it impossible to use this tool, can someone help me out, with that problem?

haha actually that would not work because it would be clumsy to use. unless you use it differently. instead of using your thumb to click, turn it upside down and use your index finger like a trigger. it will probably be alot harder but if you get good at it it should work the same.

the thing is when u hammer what surface do u do it on... i tried all wood brick concrete and it doesnt work

i did it with a hammer on a sledge hammer, but i think hammer on hammer or hammer on anvil will work.

i have an anvil which i used a rengular hammer to hit, i had to go back and hit it then grind it a couple of times because i keep forgeting how small the lock is, here is a pick of my coathanger snap-gun:
