Can you use a lockpickgun on a European lock?

Tool recommendations, information on your favorite automatic and/or mechanical lockpicking devices for those with less skills, or looking to make their own.

Snapguns will work on uppsidedown locks. I meant that they will not work well as with rightsidownlocks. I´ve opend several locks uppsidedown with my elektric gun, but not fast as with the pins up.

Electric picks work ok on both up and down

Euro and Oval cylinders have there pins in the bottom

And the Yale type cylinders have there pins in the top

and just depends on how high the security level of the pins are in the lock

Yes! They sure do work, I tend to rely on my pick gun for most oval's & euro's!
So, the question should now be " What gun work's best ",
As i have both the Southord 4.5v and the new hpc and can clarify the hpc wins every time!
An open mind can open anything

pick guns can be used on Euro profile locks ... you need sometimes to file down the needle to go into restricted keyways because of lack of space and hold sometimes the pick gun with an angle to the right or to the left when snapping because of the keyway design

one opened mind from the SSDEV in Germany made a special pick gun for European profile locks

the head can be reversed so you can snap either up or down ... very simple nice design

you can see the picture on this tool in the paper on bumping by Barry in the restricted advanced forum

I have seen pictures of a pick gun a guy in Europe ( Dutch or Danish, I cannot remember ) modified so that you could switch between having the needle strike up or down, he modified it to deal with the pin-up and pin-down cylinders he has obviously encountered in his European lock travels.

It is in part 2.3 of the following pdf file link. The document is on bounce or bump keys but has a picture of the gun and a short comment. By the looks of it, I would say it was a Majestic brand.

Check out the photo anyways.

i found it took slightly longer to pick upside down locks with a standard gun but it does work, the 4.5 volt gun i borrowrd did it pretty fast!!!
