[quote="Auto45"]This is my first hand pick i made over a year ago, made out of welding rod, works good.

And here are some photos of some electric lock picks I make all are converted to run on 9 volts, again I made them some time ago and they work.

Good effort, i guess your a bit limited when it comes altering the frequency though, have you seen my thread on converting a Bosch screwdriver into one? its pretty much a how to and the tool still works well to this day.

Shrub: I guess you've got commercially made guns as well. How do they compare with your Bosch in terms of speed of picking & difficulty of picking, over a range of locks? You should have had time by now to get quite a good idea. I picked up a B&D screwdriver recently and some bits of brass etc to have a go. The B&D isn't really as suitable, as the end piece is one round piece, rather than splitting into two sides like the Bosch. Still I plan to give it a go. I liked your idea of the ball race - got strange looks in the model shop!

My next one will be made out of the Bosch screwdriver, the other ones I made where from Idem that I had laying around the house. I have to do so more hose cleaning to find the one I have in my garage.
thanks

To be honest im only just sourcing a commercial gun (wendt) but a freind has compared the two (HPC one) and couldnt tell the differance other than my bosch one lasted longer on power.

 Model shop owners just dont beleive you do they, they ask what you want piano wire for and when you tell them they frown and just ask for the money and almost tell you to leave.

SOUTHORD has some blemished electric picks

E100C and E100HO Electric Lock Picks either one for $89.95

http://southord.com/catalog.asp?cat=outlet

Code: Select all
E100C and E100HO Electric Lock Picks
Our loss is your gain. The anodizer sent us blemished parts for the "E" Series Electric Picks. The defect is purely cosmetic, and the warranty and function are the same as our regular "E" Series. If you've ever wanted to buy and electric pick but didn't want to pay the price, now is your opportunity to own one! The E100C and E100HO Electric Lock Picks feature aluminum and hard steel construction. Unlike other electrics, the E-Series Picks are powered by conventional Ni-Cad or Alkaline “C” cell batteries, so you never need worry about replacing expensive battery packs or throwing the tool away when it will no longer take a charge. Includes four picking needles, three tension tools, and two adjustment wrenches.

I think this is their new advertising campain as this is posted every month or so, i think people just arent buying them at the prices they ask as they arent as good as the others, ive heard people that have bought them only to find nothing wrong with them at all, if you were a big company that sold/made that stuff wouldnt you just send the faulty anodiseing back and say sort it, not give it to us anyway and well sell them cheap, it just doesnt add up.

Anodiseing can be re dipped anyway so i dont see the problem/

I believe the HPC is regarded to be much better and the Wendt being better than that, im not sure of currency conversion but if it sounds a good price go for it the others will be a lot dearer, have a read on site about them there is a recent thread on HPC versus the Multipick one and youll find reviews of the southord and HPC one as well,

A lot of people use the google search bar when looking through site as the site one is a little, how shall i say it, shite.

Seems a bit odd buying that from Germany though. Especially as it will have the wrong power supply. Why not just get it in the states in the first place. I know I've seen it on sale somewhere there. Just can't remember.
