Ah well, onto the next scheme..... 
Some things may be pick proof, but everything can be bypassed....

Seems to me that the SouthOrd style mechanical pick design would be easily kludged together with one of those vibrating motor assemblies - modification of the weight on the shaft and building the armature it seems to smack into (based on available schematics) wouldn't be all that difficult.
Only hard part I foresee is getting the stuff to work together correctly and finding a high enough torque motor to pull it off with.
