Shaving machine --> possible electric pick?

Postby oystlars » 1 Jan 2006 9:03

My old shaving machine (battery driven) is no longer in use, and I thought of it as a possible electric pick.

Then the questions;
- It has a accurate forward- and backward motion, but is very fast. I saw somebody mentioning that the Dremel Golf would be too fast, so..?

- What is the amplitude and frequency of the electric picks one can buy at southord or lockpicks.com?

Mounting a pick instead of the blades should be easy going, but I'll await the answers here.

Thanks,
Øystein

The old style agency lock pick was based on a electric shaver nd that was used by goverment agencies. So in theory it can be done?.

Sounds like a great idea!

If the motor is DC(and if its a battery powered model it is), you can slow down the motor by giving it less juice. try using either less batterys in the unit, or adding a resistor to the circut so there is less load on the motor.
good luck on your project,

And I saw a few chargable, electric hair brushes... only for 10 USD or so!

And they weren't too fast at all!

here is a picture from a shaving pickgun

http://koksa.org/showthread.php?t=8552& ... t=rasierer

The pick is a piece of spring steel from wiper.
Natural you can open very simple locks with these pickgun but normal door locks I don’t
believe it. The engine of shaving machine is a little bit under powder and the bigger problem to limit the motion of the pick needle.
But the idea is great.

well, i guess the main problem is that the needle vibrates instead of flipping hard to one side like in a pick-gun, when i built such a thing it worked better when turned off
