Even though I have just signed up I have look though the forums in the past and it gave me inspiration to make my own picks for a change

and then I made a tension bar out of a junior hack saw blad but left the teeth on the end so it stays in the plug when using the electric pick gun

Thank you for my new intrest 101

good job you've done there :D

it might just be the angle of the pics but the pick shafts look a tad on the thin side. what are they like to use? any flex as your using them?

If the shaft of the picks are thin, it would be advantageous in my opinion because the chance of the shaft oversetting the pin stacks near the front of the lock that you've already picked would be reduced.

Nice job on the picks by the way! I really liked the hacksaw tension wrench idea. Pretty cool. 8)

its not the working end i'm worried about, thats excellent workmanship!! its where it joins onto the handle. could be susseptible to snapping right on that join.

Where the shaft joins the handle. You need to either rework the angle, or make some undercuts, so as to not concentrate stress at that point. Other than that, they look good.

I based my pick handles on the FALLE-SAFE picks and they work very well
and don't snap off plus if you have a tight key way they can get through easyer but iI shall look into it and maybe come up with some new ideas.
By the way if you didn't know the small one in the middle is the combination bypass tool (very thing and flexable)

Ive edited your post, its not a good idea to embed pics in between text as it messes the post up

Without seeing close ups of the picks its hard to tell what they are like and if they are any good or not, if they have been too hot they can look perfect but still be crap,

They look good though from here and to be honest lads those handles are the same as the falles and a couple of others ive seen, as long as no sharp corners are on them they wont break, every corner needs to be at least a small radius and that will remove any stress,
With respect, undercutting or ptting a slot in the corner will cause them to rip,

Be very careful useing wrenches with teeth on them, you very soon need to replace the lock once its slipped a couple of times and destroyed the finish of the plug, ive never needed to use one before so dont have one so i could be wrong but the commercial toothed wrenches are renown for chewing up the warding on plugs,

If you can show us a decent picture of the tips we can tell you how good they look

You did all that last night?!

Props to you then. As already said it would be nice to see a picture of the business end of the picks. But as your a locksmith i assume you already know what picks should look like. What band do you normally use?

all the best

I like the Falle-Safe picks but to be honest your basic pick set is good to, it all depend on the type of lock you are picking and the depths on the pins. But as you know all us locksmiths like our gadgets
