what bump keys should I get?

what bump keys should I get?

Postby n00bking » 27 Apr 2007 14:36

Hey, um, I was thinking of getting some bump keys. I had a master lock 4 pin one ship on the 24th, and it is now the 27th and I still don't have it. Gerrrrrrr.....

But I was thinking Schlage 5 and 6 pin because I see a lot of schlage locks like wherever I go. I don't want to just get 2 keys though. Maybe some I'll get the kwikset 5 and 6 pin, although I have never seen any in my life.

What would you say I should get? I don't want to spend a fortune on them, but I don't know what to get so my default reaction would be to get them all! and I have two sites inmind. bumpkey.us and bump-j.com which one is more reliable? bump-j.com doesn't look as professional...what do you guys think?

I'd buy a set of picks personally.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Try a different brand to what you have now!

Sothourd / Southern Spec / Peterson / Lab / HPC are among the most popular

Why you can't make those bumpkeys that you need yourself? It ain't hard if you get a key with a lock and you own a file or two :)

And if I remember correct, bumpkey-us.com (whatever it was) doesn't sell you bumpkeys, they sell you space/depth keys. So you still need to file them.

And next time you should search, these bumpkey topics are very frequent and it is always the same formulae: Where do I get them, how many different ones, are they legal, why don't you help me, who the f*ck is UWSDWF. Yes, I have seen it :)

OK. If I have made you mad in any way I am sorry. Here is my question. I want some bump keys. But I am a n00b. Which ones should I get? I don't want a billion piece kit, but I don't want like 2. I am thinking a Kwikset 5 and 6 pin, a Schlage 5 and 6 pin, and I already am getting a Master lock 4 pin in the mail. Are there any more crucial keys to get?

actually, scratch that.

out of these couple of brands of locks, which one am I mostly likely to encounter in life?

Arrow, Dexter, Yale, Weiser, Wesslock, Corbing Russwin, Sargeant, Best A Keyway, or National.
