Are they for professional use or messing around with?
If your messing around dont bother with any of them,
If professional heres some tips for you based on my current knowledge take them or leave them,
1) Leave well alone, either battery version simply is not up to the job,
2) Good mechanics and all round tool but just doesnt quite hit the mark,
3) Seen as the second best epg out there but personally i think poor mechanics let it down, they are prone to breaking with one i bough breaking the first time i pressed the button, expensive and not worth it,
4) There is a multipick one that uses a separate power pack, this is thought of as the best epg out there but along with its expense comes a certain amount of difficulty in useing it, its known for not opening locks or destroying them unless you get the power setting right but when you do its a powerful tool,
What would a suggestion be?
Well the HPC is sturdy and the same mechanics as the Wendt one, if you swap the batteries in the HPC for a decent set you soon have the power of the Wendt at a fraction of the price, its maybe not 100% the equivalent but its certainly a differant tool than it was when purchased,
I suggest you go to a locksmith show or such like if possable and give them a try and if not look into the hpc and swap the batteries, the hpc picks come up quite often for sale second hand,
I havent tried to modify the South Ord one nor have i had one appart but its just weak in so many areas i wouldnt even look at it,
