man did i have fun. i purchased it back when i was and had difficulty making it work for me so i have always been a manual guy.

well i was in the shop all day todqay and was playing with my pick gun all day long.

so easy it is a crime

takes little or no skill after you get the thing to work once

Advice

Postby Guitar_J » 24 Jun 2004 13:19

But there is so much advice given in the archives of this forum. Read... or as I was told when I was learning C++ "RTFM!!! "

Folks around here don't mind to help but they don't want to do all the work for you. You need to do the searching and read up on things... I (and i'm sure many others also) was able to open several locks before I even signed up for this board because of reading the vast amount of knowledge already given out.

and if people tell you to serach... then do it.. don't complain because they're not spoon feeding you what you want to know.

Just search for things, read the MIT guide several times, and get some picks. a Pick Gun is nice but learning to manually pick will really help you.

I'm not trying to flame you or anything.. but take it from me.. this is the best way to make the most of almost any forum devoted to a hobby/skill/pretty much anything.

Beginners post questions and they get answered, most beginners have the same questions, so chances are any question you can come up with at this point has been answered a few times on this board..
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

Couldn't agree more with Guitar_J.

Also, when reading the posts on this site you'll notice the vast majority are written in standard English. I think I speak for many others in suggesting that you do your best to do the same.

**This is a pre-formatted message**

Here is the link which will take you to everything you ever wanted to know about lockpicking:
Image Search (hint - it's at the top of the page)

Please feel free to use it for every question you have, no matter how complicated your query may seem to you. The majority of questions you may have will probably have been answered before.

The use of keywords is important - e.g. "I want to know how to open a Master No3" - use keywords "master", "no3", "no 3", "#3", "03", "3" etc. If your question remains unanswered, feel free to post in the correct section of the forum and please, no duplicate posts. If you wish to know more about locks, please post in the "Locks" section. Same goes for "Lockpicks - Manual", "Lockpicks - Automatic/Mechanical", etc.

The "FAQ's and general information" section also contains a wealth of knowledge and expertise, combined with answers and links to most of the questions you may have. This section has been compiled by certified locksmiths and experienced hobby pickers. Please use it.

FYI, the Advanced Locks section is closed to new users. Upon qualification, you will be invited to access the secure section following an initial request, so please don't pester the moderators if you feel that access is taking too long. Your continued participation will be monitored and access will/will not be granted as deemed appropriate.

Your co-operation will greatly enhance your experience within these fora. Thanks for your patience.

Without patience, your lockpicking experience will be short-lived.

Guys whats wrong with u all I AINT COMPLIANING about jack ...
I love searching, there is a difference,
for instance you took all that time to knock me instead of throwing a tip in there and, yes I have open several looks and have been researching the topic for weeks BEFORE I EVEN REGISTERED, so please take it easy.
Don't pick on me pick on a lock (I like that) anyway I just asked for some people's first hand knowledge with the "Southord" Snap Gun THATS ALL MAN.
I'm not asking anyone to do all the work for me. PLEASE man I'm just asking for a little help Your experiences etc.......
Dude so you got the wrong idea, because I do LOTS OF LOTS OF SEARCHES ON THE NET AND HERE...
Any helpful advice on picking tumbplers like the kwikset locks please post here. Other ones telling me to search and not wanting to help SAVE YOUR criticism for another thread.
Thanks

007:
searching is made difficult by threads like your's that ask for help on pick guns.. instead of finding the previous threads and posting your questions there. this is where the problem lies.

We can't hold your hand through the process, and that's exactly what you want. Read up on how locks work, on the theory behind pickguns, and then practice practice practice. there are no magical tips we can give you to make you an expert... you must practice. that's all there is to it. lots and lots and lots of practice... not begging for help then insulting forum members when we don't give you exactly what you want.

we've told you to search, and when you search you'll find plenty of posts on exactly how a pickgun works, how to use it, etc. after that, it's all up to you to practice. it takes some people years to develop there pickgun skills to a level where they are compitant enough to open up a lock in a few snaps every time...

007 - we want to help you, but more than that, we want you to help yourself. My advice would be to get a set of manual picks and learn the basics of picking before trying out a gun.

If, however, you insist on just using a gun, there are a few books that you can buy, available on lockpicks.com.
