hi All,
Can anyone tell me about the 5.5 gauge and 7 gauge curtain bar for this tool?
I have a set and it seems to have two of the same curtain bar with it.
What is the diameter for each of the bars?
Mine only have a diiference of about 1mm.
Is that correct between a 5.5 and a 7 gauge?
I also find it hard to get under the levers as the levers in my locks rest on the curtain and the "tension clip" on the curtain traps the wire.
Any advice on using this tool please.
Kev

kwc,
What lock is it you are using it on?
I find this great on unions, era(but not the fortress), imperials ect.

that lock should pick with this pick with no issues, you shouldnt have 2 heads the same, id return to place of purchase if this is the case, as the 5g and 7g are clearly different.
the newer 552 locks as well as the newer union 2101 locks are proving much harder than the previous version, im guessing tolerances have been beefed up.

Hi lockey,
Can you confirm the diameter of the two turning bars as mine seem to be only about a 1mm diff.

a good lock to check on is the era viscount or profit, often the 7g pick doesnt fit as curtain turning snib is too thick, taking a little of each side of the snib with a file should allow this to fit, the new morgan lock from aldridge is another good one to test this on.
the difference is only small between the 2, but one should be visibly smaller.
if no joy and going to the mla show at the weekend take it along to the sks stand and get them to compare it to there show picks to confirm size

My 5g measures 4.90mm and the 7g 4.47mm. So there isn't a lot between them.
The 5g is a bit sloppy but that's never been a problem especially as it fits perfectly in a 6.5g curtain.

the problem you are having with the pick catching the lever coz it is sat on the curtain is common with a lot of locks(fortress especially)thats why icl have made another curtain pick called the overlifter!which as the name says it lifts the levers up slightly to allow you to get the pick in!hope this info helps
