Homemade plug spinner.

Postby steve0527 » 8 Jun 2008 12:18

Hi everyone.. Today I made my first plug spinner its not totally complete my grinders not working so I still need to grind down the end to fit a keyway. I made it from 1- 1/4"x4" bolt, 6 thick black 1/4" washers, 1-1/4"
grey washer, 4-1/4" nuts, a cool wrench I had, that I drilled a hole in for a handle, 1-1 1/2" spring and solider. You can find all of the stuff at home depot or any other hardware store.

Has anyone tried using the springs used for lawnmowers? They usually sell replacements. I had a similar idea some time ago, never finished it.

Nicely done with spare parts.

I guess you spin the top while you hold the black lever, then let go of the top to let it spin, right? Is there some sort of locking mechanism to lock the top when you're tightening it, so you can let go of it for awhile or preload it?

Thank you Greywood. The decoder looks nice but don't work really. He is working very inaccurately.
I plan to build a new version when I get my new lathe.
