pick gun question

hello iv bought a southford lock pikcing gun and i tryd it out i unlocked my door withit but i cant to do in just 3-4 snaps it takes about 10 i was just wondering how to i know were to set the thing on it so the pins go up easyer ad how far should should it be from the pins.. thanks

10 snaps is fine- you got it open! For experience, try picking more locks as opposed to picking the same lock a bunch of times.

Start with the tension set all the way to minimum, try 3-5 snaps, dial the tension wheel some more, snap some more, etc until open. Make sure that the pick blade is exactly parallel to, and just barely touching, the line of the bottom pins and has the space to move.
