I know that many of the DIY snapguns do not work as good as the ones available for sale, however, has anyone tried the old pins that they used to use to put the winter blankets on the horses? They are like BIG safety pins and I would think the tension would be just right. Anyway let me know of the results if somone has tried it.

I'm sorry but those snaps are far too wide to use as tension. I have horses and took a look at them and found that they would need to be ground down to fit. they would also be too bulky. Just stick with alan keys.
