Help identifying an old Ilco key machine

Postby gunbunny119 » 15 Mar 2012 22:21

Hello everyone.

New member. Trade locksmith in Colorado. Had a question about an old key machine I've acquired. It's a vintage Ilco, weighs about 300 lbs, based on the key clamps and clamp handles I presume it's a fore-runner to the KD-50 line. It's a semi-auto lever operated (I broke the lever, but you can see where it mounts) machine. Mechanically, it looks very similar to the KD-50, but the power switch is on the top left of the carriage and not on the left side like it is on current models. I called Ilco but all i got was the web site to find manuals for just recently discontinued models. God forbid you call the company that makes these things and someone might actually know something about them....Those were the days.

Anyway, do any of you folks recognize this machine? Specifically, is it safe to assume that replacement parts from the KD50 will work such as service keys, the lever, etc?

Thanks for all your help.

UPDATE: Can't upload my tiny little 36k photo...something about board attachment quota being exceeded. Here's a link to my wife's photobucket...let's see if this works.
