Turning E100H Over Makes It Work Better?

I was fiddling around with my SouthOrd Today and I was taking pins out of a kwikset lock and adding them as I got better. 1-2-3-4 Then on the 5th pin I just couldnt make it work. Over and over. Finally I tried flipping the machine so that the button was on the bottom. 1 second later. Pop. Lock open every time. Tried it about 20-30 times now same story every time.

/i heard that flipping the machine over makes it work differantly. From what I could tell is the strike was far more firm and has more force. Could someone explain this to me please?

hrm ,i may be an idiot. I was previously using it with the button on the top. To clarify, I am using the button on the bottom and getting higher success rates. Is this correct? Was i just using it incorrectly before?

you will find that the southord pick only works in one direction anyway. this way is easy to find out.
just gently place your finger on the needle and start the pick if it pushes your finger away then apply alittle more pressure untill the pick either free wheels (high whine sound ) and no movement or keeps pushing your finger. the side that keeps pushing your finger is the side to place on the pins.
or
the side opposite the button is the side to place on the pins. wether the pins are on the top of the lock or the bottom.

I fear you may be mistaken, sir. The practice of flipping electric picks upside down for arguably better performance is an old one. I know for a fact that different people prefer different orientations.

The "standard" way is to have the "resting" position of the blade flat against the pins, then it oscillates away and returns to that (though not actually going past it, into the pins -- it's energy transfer only). With either the SO or the HPC pick, that puts the button on top.
