Just an update for anyone who's been following my woeful tale of the HPC Electropick That Wouldn't Open Locks, I've finally managed to find SOME success, using a high throw and holding it upside-down with super light tension and a stiff wrench and basically just moving around and savaging the thing. I have not opened any tough locks, certainly nothing I've been unable to open manually, and nothing with a keyway that's at ALL restricted. But I've managed to get many of the locks I can manually pick, though not really any faster. It's something, though, I suppose.

The saga continues... I wonder if I'd have better luck with a snap pick gun.

To clarify... one thing that seems to be working for me is not the method of aligning the needle straight along the bottom of the pins and then jacking them, but a kind of raking motion, angling it back a little and drawing it across them individually as it oscillates. Seems to work well so far. Time will tell.
