My guess is that converting the motion would be a major challenge. But I'm no tinkerer.

if you can make a staple "blank" that never leaves the gun and always remains able to be refired and hit a lever with a pick needle attached to it, then youd be set. it may be too much power though...
nothn a 9 cant fix.

I know what you're going through. When I was your age I tried to make a robot out of my mom's broken dryer - that didn't work either  It's disappointing but those are the breaks. :P

On a serious note, you can make a tool that operates in the same principles as a pick gun with a coathanger, search this site and you'll find it, it's pretty easy. Even a nugget like you...

I don't wanna pick on you without tossing you a bone

well I would insert a picture if I knew how.

My thought on this was to take a regular electric pick blade and somehow mount it infront of the staple exit port. If you watch a stapler with no staples in it, it hammer acutally comes outside the housing alittle (at least on the ones I have.) This "Partial exit" may be enough to push the pick blade up, pivoting on the the mount above exit port. Hope people somewhat understand what im getting at.

To insert pictures use the \[img]\[/img] tags. I added the \ to escape the actual tags, or else you wouldnt see them. Put the URL of your image in between.

Now about your staple gun, I think It would supply alot more force than would be desireable. All the bumping I've done has shown me that you really dont need alot of force to accomplish an opening. Well usuallly...

I think big Dave means that if you manage to attach a bump key to the front, the snapping of the staple gun would pop the key in pretty hard.

I have tried to use a stapler as a hammer for a bump key. I had mediocre success. I think that if the key was attached to the stapler it would difficult to hold steady enough to allow the key to move freely and be effective
