Auto-Raker

Postby freakshow » 21 Sep 2005 21:54

Now, this is a concept that popped in my head today at school, but If one could use a system similar to that of a tattoo gun, only to move a rake rapidly back and forth, would that work efficiently? I can make a drawing if need be in Paint, so you can see the mechanics of how it works.

I would think that if you're going to go to that extent, you might as well just make the motion up and down and call it an electric pick. ;)

I never thought of it that way, but yeah, I suppose I could do it with some minor tweaks to my design... Of course, I'll probably just wind up butchering a pair of singer electric scissors instead. (Lol) Just a thought i figured I might as well post.

Did the same thing with a Crest Spinbrush.

Cut the toothbrush attachment approx halfway along it's length, to expose the metal rod. Get the electrical connectors that look like a strip of Lego, and remove both screws from one piece. Slide out the brass insert and re-insert the screws. Attach one end to the rod of the toothbrush, then secure a rake tip in the other...

Rake away...

Actually, it was kinda effective. I may have another try with one of Ray's Bogota tips....may save me having to drink so much coffee!

I agree with "silent", as this would quickly damage locks, and is not far off from drilling them out.

It's a joke, because medeco locks have sidebars that need to be positioned like a second set of pins... The rake would... well, "Manipulate" both sets at once.

 Actually, it's not a joke. Medeco's use pins which are required to be rotated, which lines up the slot in the pin that accepts the 'fingers' of the sidebar, to allow the sidebar to disengage. Where the breadknife would come into play, is due to it's action...one blade is being pushed out as the other is being withdrawn. This action could be used to rotate the pins back and forth, through their operating range...-20 to +20 degrees if I'm not mistaken.

Methinks you have some research to do Grasshopper...
