Excellent I just love this place as one can learn so much what started out as a simple post on Mila locks has lead us to all sorts of issues.
I will agree on all that Pinkey has said about Mila locks they are by no means an easy pick and like any other medium security lock when fitted correctly would be better than a more exotic lock that has not been fitted well.
I have Mila fitted to all three entry / exit doors to my house and I am not at all worried why well I will come to that bit latter.
All the fancy upvc doors have multipoint locking systems which are operated by one lock and this is the first line in defence to any property all but a few are submissive to snapping but again if fitted properly makes it more difficult.
The average burglar is not going to be equipped with a set of lock picks he or she will look for a much easier entry like chucking a brick through that nice patio door window and walking through now the lock in question is no longer an issue they are in and will steal whatever they can even the alarm will not deter them because not many people take much notice of an alarm going of nowadays as it’s such a common thing.
So if you want to upgrade the locks to your house because you feel that they are an easy pick the only enemy is a burglar who has a good knowledge of lock picking which I would doubt very much.
You mentioned a lock with a swigely f well I had one of those fitted to my £1000.00 upvc front door at my previous property and it picked so easy but again I was not bothered as a potential burglar is not going to pick your lock.
I used to work for a very big education facility in the east midlands and one of our annexes which was situated in lets just say not a very nice neighbourhood was subjected to a burglary attack at least twice a month and they only got in once to my knowledge through a window by removing the security grill. The first line of defence to that building is a 6 pin union Euro cylinder fitted very well and apart from the one time when someone had tried to open it by putting a screw driver in the key way and twisting it they never opened it but I could in less than 15 seconds every time the lock was never upgraded!! As it was thought unnecessary but the security grills were and has not been burgled since.
