Can someone tell me when Lips made the Bramah-Vago axial lock? It's the one featured in Eras' book "Locks and Keys throughout the Ages". The lock looks like a DC motor with about 30 sliders and a key with two levels of bittings in the tip end. What I can't figure out is that Eras died around 1920 but the book appeared in about 1957 (I think). So either the Bramah-Vago lock was still around before Eras died, or it came on the scene later, but at any rate before 1957. I'd like to hear from someone Dutch on this (apparently the lock is on display in the Lips museum).
Actually - that 1957 date should be 1941, the year the Ducth version of Eras' book appeared.
A patent reference for this would make my day.
