Picks on sale to anyone from Trade Mag's

Postby The Pindropper » 24 Jan 2006 15:35

I received a trade mag through the door today with picks in it for sale(not sure if I can name them?). :x

They have a 'Kwick' Lock Pick @ £19.99 and a 18Pc Dino Navigator Pick Set @ £29.99.

As a new guy to this am I behind the times  or should these not be restricted in someway?

Anyone seen these or have comments on this?

They have a bubble saying "These products are not distributed or intended for illegal use" that'll frighten them off!!

I saw that catalogue today too. The funniest thing they had in their last flyer was an electronic rat killer trap, which was 'guaranteed not to harm pets'...

Most magic stores and a lot of joke shops now stock picks and tubular picks as well but they can be anything up to 4 times the price we would pay but i agree with you they should be restricted in some way but not everyone agrees with this and if the hobby side is to improve in the UK you are going to see a lot more of this.

Whats the firm by the way? its not breaking any rules by posting unless its yur business

It is a trade mag so there may be limitations on purchaseing anyway.

It's Northern Tools. They do have a web-site too http://www.northerntools.co.uk but I couldn't see the picks on their site. I don't think anyone would actually have a problem buying from them, as they take credit cards if you don't have an account. I must say I was taken by their combined lathe / milling machine...

Ahh! Silly me. It's Northern Tool (no 's') and the website is http://www.northerntooluk.com/ which *does* have the picks too. Sorry, I remembered the url wrong, and just checked on the catalogue.

Be wary of all in one machine beds, they are what you buy, there not the same as having separtate machines of course and accuracy in the manufacture of them is not great but purely for making picks you should be ok.
Ebay has some on regulary delivered from japan or somwhere i think and they regulary go for the £200 mark and will be the same quality as most others you see around, buy with care.
