rusty keys

Postby chrisjc33 » 30 Apr 2006 5:59

I have made a decoder system for the securefast blue and new black which is 100% but the keys I have cut have started to rust I have stopped the rusting with something called KURUST but I need to stop this from happening again.
I will have to use some kind of oil but can I use any oil or can someone recommend anything
i am willing to share the decoder (how to make) but i don't want to brake the rules

I dont see a series of keys like the old SV kit as a decoder but thats my opinion.

To stop your keys rusting there are loads of ways you can do it but the first i would do is to stop leaving them in the van over night, but you can seal them in a plastic bag whilst not in use or spray them with wd-40 or have them chromed (you will need to remove a slight bit more material first to allow for the thickness of chrome) you can make them from scratch out of stainless theres many many ways.

They decode the lock so why don't you see the kit as a decoder? Simple, but effective, and that'll do for me...

Well yes that is the case but i see a one single tool as being a decoder i see a set of keys as a set of decoding keys, i was only nit picking.

So you see the new Securefast tool as a decoder but not the old? Fair enough, nit picker.

Yes as the old tools were cut keys and the new one is a single tool. I see the first SV tool/s as a set of decoding keys and the new tool as a decoder. Decoder meaning 1 off which you cant put to a number of items.
As i said on my first post it was/is only my opinion and yes in my own words i was only nit picking.

To nit pick a little further - each kit is sold as a "decoder" for a particular lock. The number of pieces it contains is irrelevant.

Yes sorry i went off on a bit of a tangent, i realise the OP didnt say he had made a decoding tool but a decode system, i wasnt detracting from that and all credit to the OP for working out what he has done.

I was typing elsewhere at the time and thought i had put an additional sentance in my first reply to the point of i thought such systems should be called decoding keys or systems like the OP did and not a decoder tool like some others do.

But oh well i made a mistake and i admit it, sorry for any trouble caused.

Doesn't really matter what it's called - so long as it does the job it's designed for.
