Difference between US and European locks?

So, being new to picking I decided I'd try my lock on my apartment 1st. To my dismay it took me no more than 5 seconds to pick. I've done some research and would like to install a Kaba Gege pExtra. The trouble I'm having is figuring out if european locks are even compatable with US locks/doors. I wouldn't be too suprised if it turned out that the holes in doors are smaller or wood a different thickness making it impossible to install a european lock in my US door. Does anyone have any insight into this? Also, anyone know a good way to get ahold of an European lock in the US? Can't find any websites... Thanks!

Look at the manufactuer's websites for specs and search ebay for locks,

The size isnt that differant if at all and nothing a good escution wouldnt fix anyway,

You could of course simply install a second lock of whatever make,

Be warned though, a lock from over here may be met with confusion when you need a spare key cut and also may make a lockie reach for the drill if your locked out,

Simply go for a better quality US lock if you want to improve security,

Dont pick locks you rely on,

I'm not suggesting that a more pick resistant lock isn't a good idea, but beyond a certain point you'd want to upgrade your door (steel frame) to match the higher security of a new lock. I suspect that of the people who would want to get into your house without a key, most would be willing to break stuff - so a fancy lock only stops... who?
