Savers Direct

Has anyone heard of a company called Savers Direct. Had a phone call off them this morning asking if i would like to become a member and add my name to their database so that other companies on the database could use my services. I would have to give them a discount ( 5-20% off) and likewise for myself. Apparently there are thousands of companies that are already members and it costs me nothing! Wouldn't give me any more info or send an information pack out until i arranged a chat with a rep. Sounds a bit dodgy to me. Anyone heard of em?

So how does the rep get paid? Or the people who maintain the database? Or the people who ring people up out of the blue? How does their phone bill get paid?

Course it's not free.

Wait till the rep comes.........

My thoughts exactly. Ive put them off. They're going to phone back next week. There's too many of these companies around. I was just interested if anyone else had heard of them

On a related theme, is anyone else getting a lot of calls from a Merseyside based company called Vardis? Seems the usual cold call company but really selling up how it is a charity publication I'd be appearing in. Was kind of interested until I was browsing a the local constabulary website and came across a mention of a scam involving selling advertising space in non-existent directories.

The link, if anyone is interested, is Here

I'm not sure if this Vardis is a bona fide company or not. Anyone know?

Looks like the scousers are at it again under a different name, avoid like the plague. Search the forum for mcallister publishing or something like that, it sounds like that lot under a different name.

I had a call from our friends on the mersey calling themselves ITAS gave some waffle about being a trade association for vetted tradesman. Found their web address http://www.vettedtradesmen.org.uk see what you think. Have a search on their extensive database for any tradesman its great!
