A tool is required to remove the case cover which holds the spring in place. There is a sticker on the lockcase warning you of this.
I think both the Fortress and Classic are good solid locks and have yet to have a problem with them.

Any pics of said tool? I simply use a handclamp and a bit of swiftness of hand in the rare event I have to remove a cover. Not disputing the pick difficulty or strength, just that I think they are a little too cheap and sometimes it shows in the maufacturing/quality control.

If your looking for better quality go for the Classics.
You can obtain the "Locksmiths Tool" direct from ERA, not sure whether they would charge for sending it or not though, or you could order the Fortress service kit as this comes with one included.
