Lips 6pin Euro cylinder

European hardware -lever locks, profile cylinders specific for European locks. European lock picks and European locks.

Lips 6pin Euro cylinder

Postby reg » 24 Sep 2004 4:59

I've got 2 of those, thanks to TOOOL, but I can't pick one of them.

I once got one cut-away from those and I could see what my problem was - not only does it have 6 spool-/serrated pins - it is very hard to get pins to bind.

Now I thought I should take one of the cylinders apart and leave only 2 or three pin stacks in, to practise more on it. Trouble is, it has to be open first and I have no key nor blank. I haven't been able do pick it with an e-pick made from and electric razor nor with a pick gun (got to modify that pick needle as it is seems too wide for that key hole, perhaps it might work then).

Who has opened the Lips without key before, please tell me how I can do it.

Cheers,

reg

Hi

LIPS six pins is of course an Euro profile lock

with tuarc pliers remove the two clips from each part of the ... thing in T ... in black .... between the two cylinders

sorry I don't remember the exact term in English !!

may be you need to file a little bit out the tip of your pliers to be inserted in this tiny room (between each cylinder and this T thing)

with a blank or a pick you can shim the lock after this T shaped thing has been removed

you can use some round magnets when you remove the lock core to have the springs and pins secured in their places

I'm not sure ... I'm really clear ... sorry for my primitive English

I'm hope this helps

I see ...
I cannot shim the lock from the front, cause of the anti-shimming lip, but if I go from the middle there is no such lip, cause that part normally sits in the door ...

Thanks for that i-dea, I've run out of shimming stock, but I'll see my dentist on monday ;)

Shim stock, from the dentist? I need to hear about this! What I use are the little metal strips that form parts of anti-theft tags on DVD's and CD's. Usually, there are two strips in each tag, so you get two shims from each tag you cut open. I have a little film canister full of shims, simply from friends CD's and DVD's. These shims are quite durable, I have shimmed many locks with a single shim.

I posted in the spring about shimming an American brand padlock witth serrated pins, and how to avoid chewing up your shim. Let me see if I can dig it up somewhere for you.

That idea on shims is ingenious. Time to start collecting those when i pull them off product at work.

Thanks for the idea.

The idea is not mine, although I do try to spread it to as many people as possible. Its one of the reasons I use to convince myself to by CD's and DVD's.
