Goso 24 peice pick set any good for uk locks?

Postby WillMclennan » 1 Jun 2013 19:42

I have this set and iv been practicing with varying sucsess, sometimes when i pick a padlock the pick just doesent move that freely.. i dont know if thats normal, iv read some information about them not being sutable for uk locks and that there not slimline, but also the place that i brought them from say that they are sutable for european and japonese locks.. i just dont know who to beleive. i wondered if i brought a southord slimline set i might have more sucess.

Any help would be mutch appreciated guys:)

Some picks are more suited for tight, twisty keyways than others. The slimline picks have a shaft that is not as tall as the other picks, reducing how much you lift pins in in front of the one you are lifting.

One thing that will help any pick work better is a good sanding and polishing. It is amazing how much more smoothly the pick works with a good polishing.

What kind of locks are you trying to pick? Are you encountering security pins? Have you tried holding your tongue on the other side of your mouth? ;-)

Good luck,

Gordon

The hooks are great but you'll get next to no use out of anything else in the kit unless you plan on raking a lot of old car door locks. My advice is to buy the hooks seperately or simply opt for another set. It's not worth paying 30 quid for 5 hooks in a big case full of other stuff that's practically useless.

Completeley agree on that! i now just keep 1 hook from that set which i use as an alternative to my southord hook on the rare occasion that i need something more robust. one good thing to say is the robustness of the picks, couldnt see how anyone could break one.
