Nice to see you back, FrenchKey. This lock seems to be nicely made. Never seen that handle feature. Could that be to allow the lock to be used in a thicker door?

Yes, it's exactly for that purpose. Actually, I don't think it's intended for the customer nor even the locksmith to do it themselves, only the manufacturer that want to stock only a few different spare parts. Usually, you would order and receive the lock with the shell longer too. But it's interesting that if you took a wrong measure, you can adjust it yourself. And since it's inside the door, it doesn't even look bad.
