It is different to the one that I have. On mine the plug comes out of the barrell about 3-4mm when you turn the key, retracting the end of the plug from the cutout in the shackle. Also the cylinder retaining pin is nearly flush on his padlock where mine has a riased section around the retaining pin. Very similar but a different cylinder design on this flat black coloured model. I would assume there are side pins in this model.

Hi, resurrection after whopping 7 years 8)

Didn’t want to start a new thread as here was my original posts about this very same lock. I then moved on after not getting this one open and it remained in my collection as a nasty little bugger.

Thanks Femurat for recently picking this kind of lock as lock of a day. I had (almost) forgot that I owned one too. Now I grinded that tensioner a bit to get more picking space. If I used that other technique (only the wire) there is no practical way to control the tension to the other direction. With my TW it’s no trouble. Took a small enough diamond and continued where I last time stopped. After watching some TV while picking I finally got it! Good feeling even if this is no way a high security lock. That bitting did its share and those spools with initial turn of cylinder did the rest of my difficulties.

Congratulations! Is is very nice when you finally open that bugger...
I'm happy my picking inspired you. Now you are inspiring me with your interesting tension wrench... but I'm not at home and have no tools. We'll see if I remember it when I'm back.

Cheers :)

That is some wicked bitting on that key, Zeepia. Nice work.

I used a tweezer type tensioner that I made with music wire. It hardly does any binding against the cylinder wall since the wire is round, yet can still apply plenty of tension.

This is one of the few tensioners I have made that does not seem applicable to any other locks. For automotive locks with dust shutters, it does not keep the dust shutter open wide enough.

Great idea Gordon. Same result with less grinding. I hate grinding.

Cheers :)
