souber plug spinner modification

Anyone who has one these may have over twisted one or it may have just worn out so i did this mod. Take a street sweeper bristle and insert it along side the existing blade and tighten it all back up.This gives a double the power spinner and costs nothing to do also it lessens the chance of failure whilst out on a job

You do like a bargain don't you Toomush or, in this case, a nice mod for nowt?! :lol:

I've had no problems so far with my Souber spinner, apart from the blade being a little twisted on my original. A spinner is as important as my pick gun for me, as I predominantly pick clockwise so, just like my pick gun, I have two just in case!

Yep i love a bargain but this means i shouldnt need to buy another one. When you take it apart you will find the original bar is twisted so you need to twist it back to flat before doing the mod.

I havent got round to getting one yet, its on my next SKS order, as a thought though, you may find that instead of the full blade twisting you are now only twisting the bottom portion of the tool which could mean workhardend stress and it may break,

As i said i dont have one so this is only a guess, feel free to flame if not the case.

i've just put a piece of wire in with my spinner. it was getting weak. it's a liitle stiff but it's spin is pretty powerful. i've got the spinning wire on back order at the wholesalers. i thought that maybe the spine in a window wiper on a car would do , you can find it within the blade of the rubber, it makes a good tension tool as well. :wink:

Im pretty sure if you speak to Jimmy Kibble at Aldridges he can sort you out replacement springs for these at a fairly reasonable price

Why pay for a replacement when quicklocks free sweeper bristles do a fine job. Nope im all for my converted one now and not going back to a standard one.

also the good old wiper blade makes an excellent spring, also free at a breakers.

Got a load more wiper blades this morning, garages throw loads out every week, try and get them before they burn them as most places do, you can still use them afterwards but need hardening again.

My local knows that i have them now so just collects them for me, he even strips the rubber off for me!!
I get around 20-30 strips a week and thats a quiet garage.
