replacement chubb keys

Postby master in training » 10 Apr 2005 17:36

my friend's dad owns a car repair garage with a chubb lever lock fitted to the front door, i think its a 5 lever, but im not certain, he thought he'd lost his keys once and to cut a long story short, said that to get new keys to a chubb, you have to send away to chubb and stuff and all of the keys cut for chubb locks are registered with chubb, is this true or not?

it seemed a little odd for this kind of system to be in place, but anything is possible i suppose! should i correct him or is he right?

chubb make certain locks ie the 135 lock i believe that keys are only obtainable from chubb direct by the registered lock owner, others can only be cut by a chubb super centre.

it depends what lock its for and what lock and key profile it is, dependent upon this info, he could well be right.
