i spotted an "e" series union the other day and noted it's got different hardplate around the keyway, no nice cut out notch for id, have they changed anything else or is it just the hp?

What does the hardplate look like? Is it just the same as the M560/2 and 3U114, but in red?

Some of the E series levers can give you different readings when impressioning as posted on this thread -

the hard plate changed last year, so its not just the E series lock that has this hard plate , but the old lever type as well.

the lock still picks with a curtain wheel pick the same as before, in fact i find it a little easier.
you get the same readings on plastercine kit on many locks , but some e series differ by a 1mm difference, and one must allow for this and expect the odd pin change.

as evo said its the same lock as chubbs 3U114 and yale 560 e versions, identicle in all but colour.
