I have just purchased this item, not recieved yet though and I was wondering. I know it will cover certain other locks but why not the 110? Is it not just a case of different pins or am I missing something here? I posted this here as I wasn't sure where it belonged. I'm sure it isn't in the advanced section as I'm going into great detail. Mods correct me if I'm wrong please

Try to put a 114 key into a 110 and you will see why. Or better still, when you get the tool, put it in the lock and you will see why it cant be used on the 110

Ok, guess I will wait. It was probably a dumb question in the first place. Thanks for your reply.

Oh - and it will not cover other locks. Unless a 'secret' (not yet proven) modification is made. Dont ask me as I dont know the secret mod, and at over £400 i am not going to start buggering about with mine!!

not sure that this post is in the right section, advanced maybe?
Although I haven't yet been granted access so 'll reply here.
The 114 won't open the 110 as it is a totally different lock with different pin hights, also, the 110 is 1 9 cot key and 114 a 7 cut key.
are you in the trade liketopick?
The 114 does open other locks as standard, just take a look at the levers and combo's of others and you can soon work out what it does and doesn't open. Be carefull though, £400 is a lot of money to throw away by getting the P&C stuck ad bendingthe hell out of it trying to get it out!!!

I thought it would. I was told that as well as heard it somewhere but can't for the life of me remember where. I am in the trade but not as deeply as others on here. I am currently contracted by my local authority to carry out openings & changes. I have been doing it for about 3 yrs & invested quite heavily in tools & equipment. I sort of fell on it, it chose me sort of thing! I am also doing my own stuff outside of this contract. And am probably better than some lockies round here that drill drill drill for a living! I have every intention of goin it alone altho I know that it will be hard. I intend to subsidise my locksmithing income with a real job! lol. For a while anyway. But I always appreciate words of wisdom or tips from others. We never stop learning do we.

114 pin and cam will open other version of this lock (3k74, 114e etc)
I.e. similar locks using the same lever packs.
It's all about the tension . . .

I know that the 114 and 114e are very similar externally, but they use different lever sets, the 114 uses an H-gate type, and the E uses an open ended detainer style - can the 114 pin and cam definately do the Es?

According to the paperwork that came with it, yes. I haven't tried it yet but I have looked & there are two sets of pins inside, one for the old 114's, one for the new. I have tried the reader keys tho but got no joy at all reading the lever pack. Maybe I'm doin somethin wrong or maybe they really don't do the 114e. Perhaps someone could help out here?

Very short ones. According to the instructions this signifies a particular lever group, (i'm bein careful here bcos this is an open forum), but having checked i find it should be a lot longer mark. This means that right from the word go I'm putting in the wrong pins, they're too short so no chance of opening the lock. I am trying it on a 114e, maybe it's different on a 114.

114e levers give different reading to standard 114 levers.
You will have to work through the 114e with known levers and work out what groups/impressions they give.

Great, thanks. I haven't played with this tool yet but could I not just start with the longest pins on ALL 5 levers & work my way down? I realise it would take longer but is it not possbile this way?
