2 In 1 Pick's..

Postby CuMsCrOtE » 5 Feb 2005 14:11

Today i had my Second paying call out!! ( tho it was for a nieghbour and i just got a drink out of it!! ) :)

The lock was a Yale and a 3 leaver mortice.. easy i can hear u all saying!!

i get's out my 2in1 and thought.. "its about time i got to use this!!" BUT!! i put it in the lock and it stopped!! it was real tight!! from what i could see it was in! but it would'nt turn!! i wiggled and fiddled but it was no good..

I got it out of the lock and got the wires out!! mmm! it was a struggle to get 1 of them in!! once it was in i was trying to feel inside the lock to familierise myself with the feel of things!! NOTHING HAPPENED!! i couldnt feel the talon! i couldnt feel the levers!! F*-k ME!!! the easiest lock im likly to be called on and im stumped.. im thinking .. " i need the thinner wires!! "so im back in my box and... THERE'S NONE!!! i got loads of thick ones!! then i remember.. its a year ago that id done the course with Pinkie's crew but while i was there me and 2 other guys got our wires crossed!! :D ( pun intended!! ) :P
Any hoo, i ended up with all thick wires and no short ones!! and i know i cut a few to size!! but they were gone!!

In the end i knocked on next door and jumped over to attack the back door! they had 2 doors, both old wood and glass, both with the 3 lever's..
And both with the key's still in!! :D or should it be :( well, on my first attempt with my course made key turner ended with the key falling half out the lock!! and wouldnt budge!!

So i started on the second lock! the key was dead straight like the first! not turned at all, so i used a key extractor from my complimetry Majestic set to slide down the edge of the key and turn it a little so it wouldnt fall out!! then i got the turner out (welding rod type!)and managed to get it moving a bit.. but wouldnt turn!! i wiggled and i jiggled and and blasted!! then CLICK!!!..

:D :D :D :D :D

Finaly got it open and managed to retrieve the spare keys for the front door.. everyones happy...

The moral of this story is keep brushed up on the stuff u need to keep brushed!!

Make sure u have the correct tools for the job!!

Its all about the 6 p's...

Prior Preporation Prevents Piss Poor Performance!!!

ok, i need a key turner!!! some more wires.. the fancy angled ones would be nice!!, 2in1 picks that actualy FIT'S locks!! i realy need a curtain pick!! and a bag full of talent!! cos im PANT'S!!!!

I hope u all had a bit of a giggle, and learned a good lesson!! Dont forget .. theres always a crappier locksmith that yourselfs!! .... lol... BTW i use the word locksmith lightly!!

Have fun guys... ciao 8)
Can i pick it.. Yes i can.. Err.. well, i'll have a go!!

You do need to file a bit off the 2n1 pick lever lifters as they are slightly over sized, be carefull though as they snap very easily, after that it should work a treat. Don't put yourself down though you learn from your mistakes so next time you are prepared

the RB picks stand up to fileing well, the souber become fragile.

there are a few that the 2 in 1 pick just wont get, thus try jigglers 2 wires, the humble button hook, you at least thought about it and went for another doorway, and got in, this i applaud you for and say a big well done, there are many out there who would have just got out mr 24 volt and trashed it.

it sounds as if you was not prepared tool wise and will im sure remedy this, though you thought on your feet and still managed an NDE entry, well done

You got the job done!! thats all that counts. I have got some piano wire knocking about and I'll bring it down so we can make you up some wires - don't bother buying them.
As with 2 in 1's if you can, get RB, the extra dosh is well worth it - souber ones tend to break easily
Good to see you'll be down on the 19th! lots of locks to play with!! :D

hi m8 well done,
the way to know if your filing enough off the 2in1 legs is to get say a 5 lever non bs lock and take the front off, then carefully place the pick in the lock and measure against the talon, and keep filing till it goes in.

Actually, I do believe that it's the 7Ps.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

My grandfather used that phrase all the time, and he got it from his father. The story I was told goes that while great grandfather was in the 1st world war, he came up with the phrase in reference to a great many screw ups that near got him killed.

I have absolutely NO idea if that was true or not, but the phrase has stayed with me all these years and continues to be a great inspiration.

I am glad that there are other people out there who are following this axiom.

Oh, and big congrats on the successful opening.

Thanks Pinky, i give the idea of going for another door to u my friend!! it was something u mentiond on the course that seemed to stick!! it may have been the ONLY thing!! lol... And yes as soon as im organised enuff im gonna get a few more tools.. Im gonna go thru my local lockies dustbin!! lol... Thanks again m8..

thanks cred and romstar, the info on the pick is great, it is the RB 2in1 that iv got, i must get this thing to work and get practicing with it!! i may need it again soon.. i look forward to the meet, im gonna make sure i get the weekend off work to make it..

And the phrase has a few variations m8, im used to the 6p's, but iv heared the 7 and there are other meanings i believe!! not all so polite.. hehe, it's definatly a military expression.. iv heard it a lot from RAF Rodney's!! (officers) but iv no idea where it came from! it could have came from Napolion!! iv no idea..

I am not sure it's good advice anymore, but it makes a heck of a tongue twister!
