thanks for holding off on buying one! Why pay $35 when he has 250 of them and will obviously drop the price to $10-$20 in the next month? I'm holding out until he has 10 left and they're 9.99 each, especially with word of locks in bad condition or mis-identified cylinder types.

I guess because its worth 35$ to me. I don't have any 3ks. When he drops the price, I'll buy another one.

Oh I agree, if that thing was buy it now and I saw it at 1 in the morning on ebay, this thread wouldnt exist. ;-)

I think these retail(ed) for $65-$75, so $35 is certainly a good price if he only had a few. I actually can't want for him to drop a little more so I can get one and add it to my collection. With the amout he has, I think everyone on this forum can buy one! Maybe we'll have an EVVA 3KS picking contest at DEFCON, and to make sure nobody doctors up their own lock, you have to trade cylinders with the contestant sitting next to you or across the table.

=)

I also got one, slight weather damage on the keys, but nothing too bad. My main :/ was with the keycard being smashed to pieces. Really, though, not interested in making more keys for it, I just wanted the lock!

Now all we need is someone on Ebay selling the MCS at non-ridiculous prices :D

Hrm... that's odd: you, me and jpb06080 all received cracked keycards. JK: yours too?

Those cards are flexible enough that it's hard to imagine they would all break in shipping? It doesn't really bother me, as I don't really need to cut more keys... I just find it curious. :?:

There's a write-up of EVVA 3KS in my book (click on my signature). As for picking - I can't say but I would think it's hard. You would need specialised tools just to manipulate the wafers up and down. I think there's a few threads on LP101 about these locks, so have a look round. One thing in your favour is you only have to pick the wafers, not the profile bars, which are passive.

Yea I've been eyeing these too, I'm glad to hear about the quality issues before I got one. He told me the best he could do was $25 for a single. He also never returned my calls a couple months ago when he put the first cylinder up for $4 with option to buy in quantity  .

Forgot to add, Falle-Safe sells a 3KS decoder tool so there is a way to manipulate these locks. I've not been able to lay eyes on the tool yet though.

I might weaken at $15... No, we must all be good and hold out for the best price! Can you imagine if he'd part with 10 for $100 though?

We should see if he'd be willing to go $10 each in bulk and do a group buy. Only problem with that is that they'd need to be re-shipped. :)

He might at that - They're now $13.77. I wonder why the .77 though, other than to try and make the price eye-catching?

I might be interested in this, if a group buy was done at $10 per lock it should only cost a couple of dollars to send them around US/ Canada, and a little extra for those in the UK, so should be under $15US delivered.

Can anyone tell me what kind of housing would take these cylinders in the US?
Can they replace a Segal vertical deadbolt cylinder or a Schlage deadbolt cylinder?
