I would suggest chubb. I would have thought you could get either from a secondhand government furniture place etc.. But to be honest I have never tried to find these in the shops, but they have lever locks on gun safes etc.. Are chubb locks not possible to get as a member of the public?

Government stuff is nearly always combination (MKIV manifoils) keylocks are found on safe etc, but the majority of the light aussie made safes - for the last years of the factory used ross locks ..

If a Chubb wasn't so rare in Australia, i would of bought it long ago, so i have decided to purchase a Ross 100 and possibley a Jacksons padlock (JP154A)
Is that good enough for the hobbyist?
If i can open both i will go onto Ross 600 and give it a try.
btw, I'm guessing picking a lever padlock is different, what do i put torque on?

The ross is a good choice, the jacksons padlock might be an expensive choice though - I'll check and see how expensive they are.
An added bonus with the safe lock is that you can pull it apart to see what makes it tick while you are learning, not so easy to do that with a padlock.
Not a problem to pick though, just apply torque to the bolt talon at the bottom of the lock.

Yeah i'm definately going to get the Ross, maybe not the padlock, even though it would look cool on my locker
Is it also possible to get lever packs ordered along with the lock, if so would the locksmith allow this?

You might have problems getting a lever pack - could take some explaining as to just why you would want the parts ???
The lock can be bought for a project - building a gun safe etc - but the lever pack ???

I would suggest that you are having a gun safe or a security cabinet for computers (or whatever) custom built by a metal fabrication company.

Yes, that will be ok, i think computers are more something a 16 year person is more likely to have, though

In Oldlocks post 27/12/04 he says "the 700 has only been done by one person/specialist tool to my knowlegde" What hes very modestly not telling you is who that ONE person is!!

The pricing info we have on the system at work may be a little out of date and it's for a 102 series lock but it should give you an idea of the price of a 100, the 102 is AUD28.90
No prices on Jacksons though - can't sell many (if any)
