Sorry no clue about computers so pic a bit big. This was a safe job I was called to. Burglar had tried everything to get in cut hinges oxycetelyene on the door then gave up. Took me a bit to open it but got there in the end.

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but should break-in pictures count?

I like the above picture, though. How dumb do you have to be to try cutting fire cement with a torch? Apparently, that dumb!

I think its good to see such pictures, its a good way to see what the dicks are doing so we can better advise our customers.

Only my 2 cents though.

Locksmiths see all the weekend burglary stuff on monday morning, its interesting to see all the methods used. I suppose rohi's burglar got in, although the safe appeared closed in the first photo, no black fingerprint powder on it either. I like rohi's signature block. that does appear to be an interesting lever lock, nice of them to not destroy it.

I don't disagree that seeing the fun stuff burglar bill gets up to is interesting, but I don't think they qualify as "shoddy openings" in the spirit of the thread. Any breaking and entering person who ripped off the rear doors of a van and stole the contents would be well pleased. Any locksmith who did the same should be thrown off the end of Blackpool pier just before the tide comes back in!

rohi,
what was the failure mechanism there? Looks like the door bolts failed, then they crowbarred the internal side of the door to get the bolts back.

Yes, first the pointwelds of the door gave way, and than they pryed the inside out with a crowbar.
There is no fingerprintdust because the burglars where smart enough to cover everything they might have touched with liquid soap end bleech.
So it's not just the safe that needs replacing, but also some 25m2 of carpet.

Sometimes, you just love being insured, but still, really shows how much a burglar cares for it's victims.
Ruining the entire house if need be, as long as they get inside the safe.

Took this yale x5 off a door last night http://www.kenny-grant.co.uk/Dsc_0059.jpg even though they had the key
The back case was an old legge and jammed solid.
A local Handyman/DIY company had bean at it for 2hrs and gave up.
The back door had a union 3 lever with the key in it :)

That poor Yale :( :(

It doesn't even look like they knew where to drill. There's a small hole at the shear line..... But nothing else.

That's funny about the back door with the key in it

Bet the owners sure felt stupid.

Welcome to the site, by the way

The small hole missed the shear line to the right. He had got 4 pins
last 2 are still in although a bit bent and the plug is well jammed.
I like it when people leave keys in the inside of the lock on the back door makes the job so much easer :D

This is one that i came accross at a property i went to, who wanted a quote for a new lock. I got there and as you can imagine was horrified by the damage to the door. Apparenty the couple son had locked the door when he left to go on holiday not realising his mother had no key. A neighbour offered to get her in. I had to keep this as a reminder. Well ill say no more.
