What is a good Lock for a beginner to start on

European hardware -lever locks, profile cylinders specific for European locks. European lock picks and European locks.

Hello, as the title says it all i wont retype it again, im looking for a good lock to start out on not a very easy one but not a difficult one, any help would be great.

For pin tumblers choose an ERA, or Yale replacement cylinder (EBay is good for these)

For lever locks choose a 3 lever lock - I would recommend Union and ERA.

I do not suggest padlocks, but it is up to you.

looking at some of those locks they seem like really good ones to start on, and they are cheap so thats an added bonus ( if you buy them from ebay)

P.S. this is a bit of topic but has anyone ever orderd from southord outlet and had it shipped to the UK, if so how long did it take for the package to come and how reliable are they.

one more question picking your home locks advisable or not advisable, im not sure incase i damage them plus they may be to difficult, but it means i have a lock at hand to practice on.

If you have a look around the site you will notice we never advise you pick locks that you reliy on for various reasons. Get some practise locks and leave your house locks alone.
