Euro Cylinder Dilemma

Postby johnoboy » 25 May 2006 9:04

Moving to a new house with a conservatory door and door between conservatory between. Both doors have euro cylinders.

What is the best combination of cylinders to get (in terms of cost/picking/bumping/brute force etc.)?

Cheers for any advice

if you need protection from bump/pick/snap/pull/drilling then you will have to pay a lot, £50+ per cylinder
the problem is that if you buy cheap ones then you get none of the above protection.
and the mid-range ones offer some protection (pick/bump or drill/snap) if it was me i would go for EVVA 3KS

what do people think of the Evva DPS or Chubb m3? I take the view that if someone wants to come in badly enough it will through a window, or try and snap lock off. The new snap save type cylinders, are these a gimmick, or should a properly installed cylinder be very difficult to snap?

For ABI approval you require BS EN 1303 Grade 4 or above although this has no anti snap protection.
Zone 1500 range is CEN Grade 4 rated this coupled with either a Mila anti snap plate or the new ERA cylinder guard would protect against breaking and cheaper than the expensive anti snap cylinders

I have found the new squire 6 pin, anti bump, anti snap and a bi*ch to pick. Also has all hardened pins to prevent drilling. and priced at around the £20 mark

It really comes down to budget.
