UK Key Decoders

Postby Cherokee » 16 Aug 2006 13:46

I have seen on the various lockpick tool websites various key decoders for US locks (Kwik set, Schlage, Weiser etc).

Are such decoders available for standard UK locks Yale, Union, Legge etc.

If they are where can you get them from? :?

Souber make some that can be bought from various places like SKS, they currently have a few locks covered with them, they come with lever cards as well,

Other than that i dont think theres any cylinder cards out thee but i havent looked, its quite easy to make your own if you get a load of plastic cards like old phone cards and simply cut them out to match keys you have and know the heights of,

Decoders

Mortice lock decoders like those you mentioned are also in the form of devices that can identify the lever codes by either taking a plastercine impression of the lever bellies with a specially prepared key or by using other mechanical means. The resulting readings can be examined in order to identify the lever codes and a variable Key can then be assembled to open the lock.
