When I first started looking into locks.. I found an old book that seemed like a trade handbook of sorts. Anyway.. I remember finding an insert in there for an earlier Kaba lock and thought it might be interesting for two reasons:
1) The key looked much different than anything I had seen (at least in the US)
2) The advertisement said that it was basically the biggest badass lock in the universe.
I know that isn't true now of whatever model that was. I hear bumping works and that they are basically just pin tumblers but with a lot of pins.
When I was in Japan I found a Kaba store on some back street and they had the Kaba Star. It looks like this:

Someone maybe 2+ years ago had asked about this lock and most people said to google it. I have googled it many times and it seems like it isn't offered in many places in general. There are plenty of Japanese sites selling them and I think swiss sites.
Has anyone really seen much of this lock? Is it interesting in any way other than more rows, more pins? On tools.nl... they guy that makes the cutout pdfs, he mentions that he is going to release a kaba cutout sheet one day.
What do you guys think... is the Kaba Star interesting or is it nothing special?
PS - Why is it soooo hard to find international locks and get them?! If you check any other Kaba website other than Japan and Switzerland, its like the lock does not exist.
